Project Manager - System Integration

Overview

Canfield Engineering & Integration (CEI) is an Arizona-based electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering and system integration firm serving water, wastewater, municipal, mining and industrial clients throughout the Southwest. CEI provides electrical engineering, instrumentation and controls engineering, PLC and SCADA programming, construction support, and project and equipment management.

We are seeking a Project Manager to support our System Integration Group. This role owns schedule, budget and client communication across a portfolio of PLC programming, SCADA and control system integration projects, from control narrative through factory acceptance testing, startup and commissioning. You will coordinate integrators, engineers, vendors and contractors to deliver reliable, well-documented control systems for municipal and industrial clients across Arizona and the Southwest. While you are not required to have the knowledge to speak to the technical side of projects, it is necessary to have an understanding and experience in the AEC field.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the technical lead.
• Set timelines and tasks for the integration team on assigned projects.
• Plan and coordinate factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), startup and commissioning schedules with clients, contractors and vendors.
• Communicate project scope, specifications and change orders to the project team.
• Track all proposed change orders to the original project including pricing and billing.
• Monitor the consumption of labor hours across programming, testing and commissioning phases to ensure timely completion and budgetary compliance.
• Coordinate long-lead procurement of control panels, PLC hardware and instrumentation against the project schedule.
• Coordinate integration staff assignments and field resources with the Integration Manager and Senior System Integrators.
• Set billing forecasts for all assigned projects.
• Provide costing and man-hour input for project proposals and work breakdown structures.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for assigned clients through startup and closeout.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree.
• 5-10 years of project management experience in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry.
• Controls, automation, system integration or electrical experience. (preferred)
• Prior experience managing controls, automation or system integration projects. (preferred)
• Experience with MS Project or other project management software.
• Working familiarity with PLC and SCADA platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon or Omron. You will coordinate this work, not program it.
• Understanding of commissioning and startup sequences, including FAT and SAT processes.
• Water and wastewater project experience strongly preferred; industrial, mining, municipal or utility experience also valuable.
• PMP certification or progress toward it is a plus.

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills, with an advanced understanding of customer relationship building.
• Sufficient technical capability to interact with clients, integrators and vendors on control system content.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several concurrent projects at different phases.
• Comfort coordinating field activities and reacting to site conditions during startup.
• Ability to work under pressure and hold a schedule without losing quality.

Compensation Package: Performance bonus.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hour shift.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
