Laborers with Cando are responsible for performing the safe and efficient loading, unloading and securement of product to railcars. Working in a customer-oriented environment, the Labourer must work well in teams to maximize efficiency while demonstrating a strong initiative and safety focus.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate or move equipment around the yard and shop.
- Help maintain inventory of supplies and/or shop equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Flexibility and ability to work on various shop, maintenance, and yard tasks.
- Perform job safety analyses (JSA's) and safety meetings.
- Attend communication meetings and safety training as scheduled.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Prioritize and perform multiple tasks with the ability to meet daily demands and function in busy situations.
- Ability to operate and perform daily maintenance checks on required machinery.
- Medically fit to work in a safety sensitive environment; physically fit including the ability to pull self up and down from heavy equipment.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions on a site and some evening and weekends shift may be needed.
- Demonstrate initiative to work with others to foster a respectful workplace.
- Able to accept new challenges and responsibilities as they arise.
Education & Experience
- High School or GED.
- Read, write, speak and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Flexibility and ability to work on various shop, maintenance, and yard tasks.
- Environmental awareness.
- Visual Thread Inspection certification a plus.
