A growing healthcare distributor in the Charlottesville area is adding a Human Resources Generalist to their team. If you like variety, autonomy, and being the go-to HR person people actually count on, this is a strong fit.
This is a direct hire opportunity
You'll be the on-the-ground HR presence across their Charlottesville-area locations, based at their main warehouse with regular travel to nearby sites. This is a true generalist seat — you'll touch payroll, benefits, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance, training, and recordkeeping, working side by side with operational leaders and reporting to the Director of HR.
It's hands-on and fast-paced. The right person can run day-to-day HR independently, knows when to escalate, and stays organized across competing priorities.
What you'll do
Be the primary HR contact for employees and managers across assigned sites
Support payroll accuracy, timekeeping, and employee changes
Help employees navigate benefits enrollment and eligibility questions
Partner with hiring managers on recruiting, offers, and onboarding
Document and help resolve employee relations issues
Support performance documentation and corrective action
Keep compliance, training records, and personnel files in order
Coordinate onboarding and offboarding
What you'll need
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3 years of HR generalist experience spanning multiple areas (employee relations, recruiting, payroll, benefits, compliance)
Working knowledge of federal and state employment law
Comfort with HRIS, payroll, and applicant-tracking systems
Strong judgment, discretion, and communication skills
Willingness to travel between Charlottesville-area sites
Nice to have
HR experience in logistics, warehousing, or another operational setting
Paychex Flex experience
SHRM-CP or PHR certification
Familiarity with Virginia employment practices
Compensation: $62,000–$70,000, depending on experience
