Cetera Financial Group is currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Investment Analyst for our company’s office located in El Segundo, CA. This is a unique opportunity to develop and hone a range of skills, conduct investment research and data analysis, and collaborate with peers and senior leadership to provide the best service to our institutional clients. The analyst will produce detailed evaluations and actionable recommendations on mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), and other investment vehicles. This role will also include quantitative analysis to support on-going projects. Over time, the role’s responsibilities may naturally evolve, with more client-facing opportunities and project leadership opportunities.
What you will do:
- Gain a deep understanding of the investment methodology employed by our team
- Perform detailed quantitative and qualitative research on mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), separate accounts and other investment types commonly used for retirement investing
Support the team’s recurring overall market analysis
Schedule and conduct interviews with portfolio managers and other key investment team members to gather more information about investment products, write notes on the meetings.
Produce well-informed evaluations on the attributes of investment managers and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee
Follow news and regulatory filings on investment strategies and provide insights and analyses on mutual fund and ETF developments.
Collaborate on interdepartmental projects as needed, including preparation for new legislative rules implementation and related strategic programs
Ad hoc requests such as participating on investment review calls with institutional clients
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 2–3 years of experience in the financial industry, ideally within the investment sector, with a focus on analyzing mutual funds and other pooled investment vehicles.
- Understanding of investment-oriented databases (e.g., Morningstar Direct, FI360) strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills
- Sound logic and reasoning with a demonstrable ability to ask the right questions and make informed decisions
- The ability to see the bigger picture, distill information quickly, and identify performance driving factors

Compensation:
The base annual salary range for this role is $95,000 to $125,000, plus a competitive performance-based bonus. Base annual salary depends on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and location. Base annual salary may also differ significantly due to geography and cost of labor considerations.
