What are the responsibilities and job description for the Portrait / Event Photographer position at Candid Color Photography?
Candid Color Photography is a Mid-Atlantic based photography studio serving customers throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
We are looking for experienced photographers for our on-location portrait sessions and event candids throughout the Northern Virginia area. This includes Chesterfield County, Hanover County, Henrico County, and other surrounding jurisdictions. Additional locations also available.
Full-time, part-time, and contract work is available. Company provided equipment will be used to photograph events. Our lead photographers will provide training.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
Posed Portraits
- Taking posed pictures of elementary, middle, and high school students during school hours. Typical event day is 7:30am-3:30pm.
- You will coordinate with a lead photographer for daily responsibilities and event pre-planning.
- You will be responsible for arriving at setup time, assembling studio equipment (lights, background, camera, and accompanying equipment), photographing subjects, and packing up.
Event Candids
- Taking event candids of sports, dances, and other functions per school request. Event candids are typically after school hours between of 5:00pm-8:00pm.
- You will secure event images, perform basic editing (ex: delete bad images, basic color correction) and upload photos to a web portal for said school.
Requirements:
- Prior photography experience with posed portraits and/or event photography (i.e. sports, etc..) is required. Please share your experience and portfolio for consideration.
- Candidates will be rejected if your resume does not show prior photography working experience or lacks the necessary qualifications.
- You must pass a police background check prior to hiring.
- You must be available weekdays (especially early morning hours).
- You must have reliable transportation.
- You must be punctual, and be able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- You must be physically capable of moving heavy equipment and be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- You should be outgoing and comfortable working with subjects of all ages (kids to adults).
- You should be a team player and assist other staff members when necessary.
Pay is based on your experience level and the complexity of the event.
