Job Purpose:
The job purpose of a Medical Assistant at the Cancer and Blood Specialty Clinic is to provide exceptional patient care and support to medical professionals in the clinic. This role involves assisting with various medical procedures, performing administrative tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic. Candidate must be fluent in Vietnamese.
Essential Job Functions:
The essential job functions of a medical assistant include, but are not limited to:
- Greet patients, check-in and check-out
- Assist in the coordination of diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and hospital admissions
- Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and manage patient flow within the clinic
- Make sure patient’s insurance and eligibility are verified
- Collect copays and any outstanding balances
- Manage and update patient demographics and records while maintaining confidentiality
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills in the performance of work assignments and duties
- Communicating with patients, families, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Review physician orders, test requests, tasks, or follow-up needs with patients
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications and experience required for the position include:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited institution OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR minimum of 2 years as a medical assistant in an office or clinic setting
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant is preferred
- Previous experience working in a medical setting, particularly in oncology or hematology, is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other medical software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and safety measures
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Familiarity with cancer and blood-related conditions preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

- The Medical Assistant will work in an outpatient clinic setting during regular clinic hours
