Truck Upfit Technician

Position Summary

CanAm Custom Trucks is seeking a motivated and skilled Truck Upfit Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transforming new Class 8 truck chassis into fully customized vocational trucks by installing hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical components according to engineering specifications and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Install truck-mounted equipment, including:

o Hydraulic systems

o PTO (Power Take-Off) systems

o Air compressors

o Generators and inverters

o Toolboxes and storage systems

o Lighting and electrical accessories

o Pumps, valves, and plumbing components

o Service bodies and related equipment

• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and installation drawings.
• Perform electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and testing of installed systems.
• Install hydraulic hoses, fittings, pumps, reservoirs, and controls.
• Fabricate and modify brackets and mounting components as needed.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, drills, grinders, and other shop equipment safely.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets CanAm quality standards and customer specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Accurately record labor hours and complete required documentation.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules.
• Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in truck upfitting, automotive, heavy-duty truck, diesel, equipment, trailer, or mechanical assembly preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Basic electrical and hydraulic knowledge preferred.
• Ability to read measuring devices and use common shop tools.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions throughout the day.
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Ability to climb into and underneath trucks as needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
