What are the responsibilities and job description for the Continuous Improvement Technician position at Canam Bridges?
As a CI Technician, you'll seek to identify, analyze, and implement changes to enhance the efficiency, productivity, quality, and safety within the organization. Utilizing continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, you'll analyze processes, identify waste, and drive sustainable improvements throughout the business, collaborating with other members of the continuous improvement team and across the organization to foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptation.
Responsibilities
- Support Canam's commitment to all safety and quality programs.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste removal, and cost reduction.
- Plan, facilitate, and execute continuous improvement events using Lean tools and methodologies.
- Teach, lead, and coach cross-functional teams.
- Work to continuously improve processes both on the production floor and within other functional areas of the organization.
- Help ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current and being followed.
- Create new Standard Work and Standard Operating Procedures to support the organization.
- Help create a zero defect mentality throughout our operations.
- Serve as a tactical expert and resource for continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
- Track and measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives, reporting on results to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Commitment to safety and quality in the workplace.
- Passion for continuous improvement with the ability to coach, mentor, and train others.
- Strong background with a variety of problem solving methodologies to analyze and process data and drive improvements (Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, SWOT Analysis, Impact-Effort Matrix).
- Working knowledge and use of Lean principles and methodologies (6S, KPIs, Gemba, Poka Yoke, Standard Work, Kaizen, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping).
- Experience using Google Workplace or Microsoft Suite, including advanced skills with Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms.
- Ability to multitask multiple projects while weighing and managing priorities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across boundaries to support and influence all functions within the organization.
- Active listening and the ability to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement from team members.
- Ability to build and foster a collaborative work environment by building trust, credibility, and a rapport throughout the organization.
Preferred
- Familiarity of Lean Six Sigma.
- Experience with MDI (Managing Daily Improvement).
- Yellow Belt Certification or beyond is highly desirable.
