What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT System Administrator position at Canadian Valley Electric?
The System Administrator ensures the Cooperative’s IT systems are maintained and well-functioning in alignment with current best business practices. Provides support in areas of computer troubleshooting; hardware and software maintenance, and training for the purpose of providing adequate computer services to all employees.
Summary of Duties:
- Supports the IT functions of the Cooperative, including managing the trouble ticket system.
- Monitor system health, including server, storage, and network performance to prevent issues.
- Assists with system updates, backups, installations, and implementations of software and hardware.
- Performs maintenance, enhancements, and technical support on existing hardware and software systems.
- Oversee regular data backups and ensure swift recovery in case of system failures.
- Implement security controls, manage user permissions, and ensure data integrity.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems or other related field.
- 3-5 years experience preferred.
- Experience in engineering fields of electric distribution design and Short/Long Range Planning strongly preferred.
