PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Yard Operations Support role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of yard activities. This position supports train crews and yardmasters by managing documentation, coordinating inventory, verifying track and car details, and performing various support tasks. The role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to operational excellence across all shifts.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Perform clerical duties to support daily operations
- Provide accurate documentation to train crews as directed by the Yardmaster
- Line up inventory and verify tracks, cars, and yard conditions
- Transport crews via cab and pick-up services as needed
- Perform janitorial duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Support other operational tasks as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma required
- Ability to work any of three rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to work overtime as required
- Valid driver's license
- Proficiency with computers and basic software applications
- Strong multitasking and communication skills
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Safety-focused and reliable with a strong work ethic
