Position Summary
The HVAC Comfort Advisor is responsible for conducting in-home residential consultations, identifying customer comfort concerns, and recommending heating, cooling, and indoor air quality solutions tailored to each home and family. This is a consultative, education-focused sales role, emphasizing professionalism, transparency, and long-term customer relationships—no high-pressure sales tactics.
The Comfort Advisor works closely with installation, service, and operations teams to ensure a seamless customer experience from initial consultation through system installation and post-install follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
In-Home Consultation & System Design
• Conduct in-home residential consultations to assess customer comfort needs, existing HVAC systems, ductwork, insulation, airflow, and indoor air quality.
• Perform heat load calculations (Manual J) and recommend properly sized systems in compliance with California Title 24 requirements
• Evaluate system performance, energy efficiency, and opportunities for comfort improvements
• Recommend appropriate solutions including air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, duct modifications, zoning systems, thermostats, and indoor air quality products
Customer Education & Sales
• Educate homeowners on system options, efficiency ratings, performance differences, warranties, and maintenance considerations
• Clearly explain available rebates and financing options
• Prepare and present accurate proposals using company-approved pricing tools within ServiceTitan
• Secure signed agreements and required documentation in compliance with company and legal requirements
• Meet or exceed individual and team sales performance goals while maintaining ethical sales practices
Coordination & Project Support
• Coordinate with installation, service, and operations teams to ensure job readiness and smooth project execution
• Communicate job details, special considerations, and customer expectations clearly to internal teams
• Follow up with customers before and after installation to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns
CRM, Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate customer notes, proposals, follow-ups, and records in ServiceTitan CRM
• Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted timely
• Comply with all company policies, safety standards, and applicable local, state, and federal laws
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Close Rate: Meet or exceed established individual sales conversion goals
• Average Ticket Value: Achieve target average sale while recommending appropriate, value-based solutions
• Customer Satisfaction: Maintain high customer satisfaction scores and positive feedback
• Accuracy Rate: Proposals and system designs meet company standards with minimal revisions
• CRM Compliance: 100% completion of required ServiceTitan notes and documentation
Qualifications
Experience & Education
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior HVAC sales, in-home sales, or related consultative sales experience preferred
• HVAC technical knowledge or field experience is a plus but not required (training provided)
Skills & Abilities
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to explain technical information in a clear, customer-friendly manner
• Comfortable using iPad-based tools, CRM systems, and digital proposals
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage a dynamic schedule
• Professional appearance and demeanor
Driver’s License & Driving Requirements
• A valid and current California driver’s license is required
• Employees must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with the company’s Fleet Usage Policy
• Driving records may be reviewed upon hire and periodically thereafter
• Any employee with a suspended or revoked license must immediately notify management and may be restricted from driving for work-related purposes
