What are the responsibilities and job description for the Major Gifts Officer position at Campus Outreach?
Campus Outreach SERVE sits strategically within the Campus Outreach movement to “empower and expand Campus Outreach ministries under the authority of local churches.” We exist to effectively strengthen 800 staff across 100 campuses in 13 countries.
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for prospecting, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of major donors capable of making gifts of $10,000 annually. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, this role will primarily drive new donor acquisition while strengthening donor retention, and expanding the major gifts pipeline to advance SERVE’s long-term vision within the greater Campus Outreach movement.
The ideal candidate will be spiritually mature, relationally motivated, and a results-oriented leader who can combine strategic fundraising execution and relational collaboration with ministry leaders and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Prospect Development and Strategic Engagement
- Identify and cultivate new high-capacity prospects in partnership with network and church leaders.
- Increase new donor acquisition.
- Partner with senior leadership on key visits and major gift asks.
- Support special campaigns and strategic initiatives tied to organizational milestones such as the 50th anniversary.
Portfolio and Donor Management
- Manage a strategic portfolio of major donors and prospects.
- Conduct a minimum of 12 - 15 meaningful donor visits per month.
- Meet or exceed annual major gift revenue targets.
- Identify multi-year and planned giving opportunities.
Stewardship and Reporting
- Provide clear, compelling communication regarding ministry impact.
- Ensure timely acknowledgments, reporting, and documentation of gifts.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and portfolio performance tracking.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and biblical stewardship.
Qualifications
- A deep personal alignment with the mission and values of Campus Outreach.
- 5 years of frontline fundraising or ministry partnership experience
- Demonstrated success securing $10,000 gifts
- Strong relational skills with the ability to build trust across decentralized teams
- Passionate about connecting people and building long-term relationships
- Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and takes initiative with limited oversight
- Familiarity with CRM platforms or donor management software preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; experience within Campus Outreach as a student, staff, or supporter is a plus
