Position Summary:
The Research Laboratory Manager will perform laboratory functions and tasks for the management of the biomedical research laboratories located in Smith Hall and other facilities and will participate in the dissemination of biomedical research output. This individual will assist the biomedical faculty in the training of new personnel and students in laboratory safety and will supervise and evaluate personnel and trainees in the research laboratories. This position will maintain accurate records, prepare laboratory reagents, maintain chemical inventory, and assist with research advancement. This individual will be integral for the progress of research projects by participating in the project development, data collection, data analysis, publication, and presentation of biomedical research projects within the school of medicine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Routine Laboratory Management:
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers for research laboratory purchases, training, and equipment.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Create and update the chemical inventory.
- Document training records of all laboratory personnel.
- Supervise the use of crucial laboratory equipment.
- Generate standard operating procedure (SOP) documents.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the research laboratory.
- Maintain budget totals for individual researchers and common purchases, by using an Excel spreadsheet.
- Maintain compliance documentation.
- Maintain records, reports, and required files for the research laboratory.
- Make laboratory stock solutions.
- Obtain and maintain literacy in topics related to biomedical research.
- Draft manuscripts and provide editorial support for research publications and grant proposals.
- Order laboratory and common office supplies.
- Serves as a key contact for the research faculty.
- Provide composite summaries for research projects.
- Train students and others in laboratory safety and in the use of laboratory equipment.
- Supervise and evaluate laboratory personnel and trainees.
- Become familiar with and adhere to CUSOM and Campbell University policies and FERPA guidelines.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.

Support of Biomedical Science Research Laboratories (Ongoing Research):
- Organize and conduct experiments in collaboration with biomedical faculty.
- Analyze data for research publications, grant proposals, and presentations.
- Develop experiments and protocols to address research questions.
- Oversee student experiments and provide feedback for student participation in research
- Maintain laboratory stocks and cultures.
- Documentation and communication of research data.
- Contribute to the creation of research presentations and publications.
- Provide project updates to faculty researchers
- Document compliance with grant processes
- Provide needs assessments regarding research to the Associate Dean for Research
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Biology, Chemistry, or another related scientific field.
- Three to five years’ experience in the research field is preferred.
- Experience in tissue culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, DNA/RNA isolation, and other molecular biology techniques is desirable.

- Ability to work 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday; there may be occasional requirements to for working outside 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
