POSITION OVERVIEW 

The General Labor position in the Service Department supports day-to-day operations by performing various manual tasks to ensure the service department runs efficiently. This role is vital in assisting with the preparation and maintenance of service equipment, tools, and the overall workspace. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  1. Assisting with Service Tasks: 

  • Support service technicians and team members by gathering and preparing tools, equipment, and materials required for service-related tasks. 

  • Assist in the assembly, disassembly, or repair of products and equipment under the direction of service professionals. 

  • Help technicians during installation, maintenance, or repair processes, including handing tools, materials, and assisting in basic service operations. 

  1. Maintaining the Work Area: 

  • Keep the service area clean, organized, and free of hazards by sweeping, mopping, and performing general housekeeping tasks. 

  • Ensure that tools and equipment are properly stored and organized for easy access. 

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in common areas, ensuring that service areas are compliant with health and safety regulations. 

  1. Material Handling: 

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment, materials, and supplies required for service work. 

  • Move and transport items throughout the service department, ensuring they are handled and stored appropriately. 

  • Keep inventory organized and assist in the tracking of materials and parts used during service activities. 

  1. Waste Management: 

  • Properly dispose of waste materials, parts, and packaging from service tasks. 

  • Assist in managing recycling programs and ensuring that recyclable materials are properly sorted and stored. 

  • Maintain waste disposal areas in a clean and organized manner. 

  1. Basic Maintenance & Repairs: 

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks around the service department, such as cleaning equipment, tools, or vehicles used by the team. 

  • Assist in routine checks and inspections of service equipment, ensuring that items are in good working condition. 

  • Report any issues with tools, equipment, or supplies to management to ensure that necessary repairs or replacements are made. 

  1. Safety Support: 

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary. 

  • Assist in maintaining a safe working environment by following health and safety guidelines and reporting unsafe conditions or behaviors. 

  • Help with routine safety inspections of the work area to ensure compliance with regulations. 

  1. Supporting Service Projects: 

  • Assist with service projects by preparing and organizing parts and materials before and during service operations. 

  • Help clean up after the completion of service tasks, ensuring that all areas are properly restored and ready for the next project. 

  • Provide support in loading/unloading equipment or materials from service vehicles or storage areas. 

  1. Customer Interaction (When Applicable): 

  • Greet customers in a friendly, respectful manner if present in the service area. 

  • Assist with basic customer inquiries or direct them to the appropriate service team member. 

  • Ensure a positive customer experience by maintaining a clean, organized environment and promptly assisting with any basic needs. 

  1. General Administrative Support: 

  • Assist with basic administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, or organizing documents when needed. 

  • Maintain accurate records of parts, tools, and materials used in the service department. 

  1. Other Duties: 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, including assisting with other team members or performing special projects as needed. 

  • Be willing to take on a variety of tasks in a flexible, proactive manner. 

Qualifications:

 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. 

  • Experience: 

  • Previous experience in a general labor or service department role is a plus but not necessary. 

  • Basic understanding of service-related tasks or manual labor responsibilities. 

  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately with minimal supervision. 

  • Skills: 

  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and move equipment or materials as required. 

  • Ability to work in a team environment and assist others when needed. 

  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to work safely in a service department. 

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with service technicians and other team members. 

  • Basic organizational skills to keep work areas clean and organized. 

  • Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds or more when required. 

  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time. 

  • Ability to work in a variety of physical conditions, including bending, kneeling, lifting, and handling equipment. 

Work Environment: This role typically requires working in a service department or warehouse environment, which may involve exposure to various tools, materials, and service equipment. The role may require physical labor, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating basic machinery. Safety protocols must be followed to ensure the work environment remains safe for all team members.
