Campbell County Board of Education is seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School Counselor to join our team. Position Summary
The High School Counselor provides a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development needs of students. The counselor collaborates with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community partners to help students achieve success and prepare for postsecondary opportunities.
Qualifications
- Valid Tennessee School Counselor License or eligibility for Tennessee licensure.
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
- Knowledge of academic planning, college and career readiness, student support services, and state graduation requirements.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling services to support students' academic, social, emotional, and career development.
- Assist students with academic planning, course selection, and graduation requirements.
- Support college and career readiness initiatives, including postsecondary planning, financial aid awareness, and scholarship opportunities.
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with staff to identify and support students who may be at risk academically or behaviorally.
- Coordinate and interpret student assessment data as needed.
- Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, families, and outside agencies to address student needs.
- Assist with crisis intervention and response efforts when necessary.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in school improvement efforts and support a positive learning environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or Director of Schools.
