What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician II position at Campbell County School District?

General Definition of Work:

Performs intermediate semiskilled work maintaining and repairing school buildings and facilities; does related work as required.  Work is performed under regular supervision.

 

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:

Maintaining and repairing school buildings and grounds facilities.

  • Performs a wide variety of semiskilled building maintenance tasks such as masonry, carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical and HVAC, includes repair, install, test, troubleshoot and preventive maintenance.
  • Repairs valves on plumbing fixtures; installs doors and windows; repairs faucets and flush valves.
  • Maintains security, fire control and key systems as assigned.
  • Delivers, sets up and moves furniture and equipment.
  • Performs general grounds maintenance work.
  • Acts as liaison to maintenance department and outside contractors working in building.
  • Assists in building security procedures.
  • Mows lawns and ball fields as required.
  • Assists in snow removal and ice control.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in electrical, HVAC/R, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, painting and other trades; general knowledge in the use of common hand and power tools; general knowledge of the safe use and operation of tools and equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

 

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction activities.

 

Physical Requirements:

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm’s length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and oils.   The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.

 

Special Requirements Related to On Call Requirements

  • Carry a CCPS phone to facilitate communication when necessary.
  • Respond to emergency situations within 1 hour of notification.
  • Refrain from any activities that may impair the employee’s ability to respond to a call and perform related work.
