Position: Legal Assistant (for Conservatorships and Social Security Disability)
Classification: Full-time

Summary of Position:
Duties will include:
- Assisting the attorneys and staff
- Conservatorship petitions
- Social Security Disability Appeal paperwork
- Conservatorship accounting
- Trust accounting
- Trial prep and litigation
- Preparing court documents
- Meeting with clients
- Notarizing documents
- Calendaring critical deadlines
Additionally, duties may include:
- Preparing asset lists, analyzing bank and business records
- Identifying trust and non-trust assets
- Identifying the title and character of assets
- Determining beneficiaries and persons entitled to notice
The ideal candidate must possess exceptional communication, computer, and telephone skills, and the ability to interact positively with clients and staff. The ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail is required; as well as, proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, G-mail Suite Calendar, Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, and Essential Forms. The ideal candidate must be responsible, dependable, organized, and punctual, in addition to possessing sufficient knowledge in the area of trust and probate administration, as well as conservatorships.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, 2-3 years of which involving estate planning, probate law, trust administration, and/or conservatorship law.
- Experience in civil litigation is a plus, but not required.
- Experience with Social Security disability appeals is a plus, but not required.
Education
- High School degree is required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Paralegal certificate is preferred.
Basic Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
