Recreation Coordinator
Overview of Recreation Coordinator Position
The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating recreation programs and services for the Golden Corridor YMCA. This part-time position, requiring 15-20 hours per week, will assist with the development of recreation programs and services, ensure compliance with state and federal laws, and provide guidance and support to the Recreation and Aquatics Department. Additionally, the Recreation Coordinator will oversee the coordination of a community sports league, ensuring smooth operations and participant satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and coordinate activities for all recreation programs and services within the community.
- Ensure that all program activities are in compliance with state and federal laws.
- Coordinate and manage a community sports league, including scheduling, team management, and facilitating games and events.
- Provide guidance and support to Recreation department staff.
- Work with other departments to ensure proper implementation of policies and procedures.
- Participate in the hiring, training, coaching, supervision, evaluation, performance management, and discipline of recreation personnel.
- Participate in the development of new programs and services for the community.
- Participate in budgeting processes to ensure that all programs are properly funded.
- Maintain accurate records regarding recreation program costs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Weeknights & some Saturday mornings

- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to coordinate and manage a sports league
- Knowledge of recreation programming and best practices
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Experience: Previous experience in recreation, with some leadership capacity, and experience in coordinating sports leagues.
- Language Skills: Proficient in English (verbal & written), able to read, write, speak, and comprehend at a level appropriate for job requirements. Ability to write at a minimum of an academic level 1 (grade level 1-12) required.
- Certifications: Must hold a CPR certification or be willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
