Campaign for Uyghurs (CFU) is seeking a passionate and driven candidate to join our dynamic team. The successful applicant will contribute to advancing human rights, policy advocacy, and public awareness on the Uyghur plight while supporting our mission of justice and accountability.
Position: Advocacy Coordinator
Location: Washington, D.C.
Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and help lead advocacy efforts across the United Nations, European Parliament, and government bodies to advance human rights.
- Support advocacy campaigns, media engagement, and public communications, including drafting speeches, talking points, op-eds, press releases, and other advocacy materials.
- Manage grants and funding initiatives, including researching opportunities, drafting proposals, preparing reports, and coordinating the planning of events, workshops, and conferences.
- Track advocacy impact and support leadership with administrative and strategic tasks.
- Build relationships with policymakers, NGOs, and allied organizations to shape and advance policy initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Human Rights, Political Science, or related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in advocacy, policy, or human rights work.
- Strong knowledge of Uyghur issues, Chinese government policies, and international human rights mechanisms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience preparing speeches, reports, and advocacy materials.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with policymakers, NGOs, and civil society.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Speaking Chinese is preferred.
