What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Housekeeper — Camp Wightman position at Camp Wightman?
Part-Time Housekeeper — Camp Wightman | 20-25 hours/week | Griswold, CT
Camp Wightman is a year-round camp and conference center on more than 200 acres in Griswold, CT. We host retreat groups, church communities, nonprofits, schools, and families throughout the year. Our guests come here to rest, reconnect, and find belonging — and the condition of our spaces is a big part of how that happens.
We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Housekeeper to help us keep those spaces clean, safe, and ready.
What you'll do:
The primary focus of this role is our Retreat and Conference Center. You'll prepare guest rooms, meeting spaces, restrooms, and common areas for incoming groups — most weeks with a mid-day Friday deadline. You'll also support summer camp facilities during the camp season.
Day-to-day, that includes:
- Cleaning and sanitizing guest lodges, meeting rooms, restrooms, and common areas
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
- Changing and laundering bed linens
- Emptying trash and recycling
- Monitoring supply inventory and communicating restocking needs
- Flagging maintenance or safety concerns
- Supporting other facility needs as assigned
What we're looking for:
You don't need a resume or years of experience. We'll train the right person. What matters most:
- You show up and follow through
- You notice the details others miss
- You take care of spaces like they matter — because they do
- You can handle the physical demands of the work (lifting, moving, cleaning across a large property)
- You're easy to work with
Schedule and pay:
- $18.00-$22.00/hour DOE
- 20-25 hours/week, flexible day-shift scheduling
- Must be able to commute to Griswold, CT
To apply:
Email executivedirector@campwightman.org. Tell us a little about yourself and why this role interests you. Include a resume if you have one — but don't let that stop you from reaching out if you don't.
