What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Chef/Cook position at Camp Schodack?
Camp Schodack Chef/Cook
Dates: June 8 - August 18
This Chef/Cook will be responsible for creating an allergy/dietary restriction friendly menu to compliment the existing menu and act as our allergy point person in the kitchen.
To perform this job you will need:
- experience as a cook/or assistant cook,
- experience preparing vegetarian, gluten-free, & dairy-free meals
- training and/or experience cooking for large groups,
- knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving,
- the ability to follow instructions,
- the ability to function as a member of a team
Duties consist of, but are not limited to:
- Wash, cut, peel and prepare vegetables
- Operate kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryolator, meat slicer, etc)
- Prepare pasta, poultry, and meats
- Prepare bread
- Prepare soups, sauces, and gravies
- Weigh and measure food portions
- Monitor portion control
- Assist in and monitoring of foodservice cleanliness
- Monitor proper food storage
- Help prepare and serve substitute meals to campers and staff
- Monitor that coolers are organized, swept, and mopped daily
- Help unload food deliveries
- Wash dishes/pots & pans
- Remove trash and food waste
- Clean/wipe down all tables, sinks, and food equipment
- Assist the cooks and kitchen manager as requested
- Various other jobs needed to run the kitchen efficiently
This position is open to a local applicant that can commute daily OR someone that would like to live on camp in provided housing.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $1,100.00 per week
