Sous Chef

Camp Pinnacle is seeking a motivated and dependable Sous Chef to assist in leading daily culinary operations for our residential summer camp, retreat, and events program. The Sous Chef will work directly with the Executive Chef to execute high-volume meal service, supervise kitchen staff, maintain food quality standards, and ensure a safe and efficient kitchen environment.

This position plays a key leadership role in meal production, staff training, inventory management, and event execution while helping provide an exceptional dining experience for campers, guests, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation and execution of breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
  • Supervise and support kitchen staff during prep and service
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and proper portion control
  • Maintain sanitation and food safety standards in accordance with local and state regulations
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory management, and product rotation
  • Support menu execution for camp programs, retreats, weddings, and special events
  • Train and mentor kitchen team members on recipes, equipment, and kitchen procedures
  • Assist with scheduling, production planning, and daily kitchen organization
  • Monitor dietary accommodations including vegetarian, gluten-free, and allergy-sensitive meals
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Chef
Qualifications
  • Previous culinary leadership experience preferred
  • High-volume food service experience strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and special events
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
  • Summer camp, hospitality, resort, conference center, or catering experience
  • Experience managing multiple meal periods and large-volume production
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
