About us
Camp Monroe is an After School program serving TK–5th grade campers at James Monroe Elementary School in Bermuda Dunes, CA. Camp Monroe brings the adventure, creativity, and community of camp into a dynamic after school enrichment program. Our staff creates an exciting environment where campers enjoy outdoor games, sports, active play, indoor activities, arts and crafts, and special events that encourage teamwork and fun.
We are seeking friendly, outgoing, and dependable candidates who enjoy working with children, thrive in a team environment, and are comfortable being physically active for extended periods both indoors and outdoors.
Employment Dates:
August 19, 2026 - June 4, 2027
(Following Desert Sands Unified School District school calendar)
Mandatory Staff Training Dates:
Wednesday, August 12th
Thursday, August 13th
Monday, August 17th
Tuesday, August 18th

Hours:
Monday - Friday: 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Wednesday: 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Hours may vary, but generally 20 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a positive and supportive camp culture
- Help campers learn and play active camp games and overcome challenges
- Be active and engaging throughout the camp day
- Collaborate with a co-counselor and a team
- Adhere to safety guidelines
Essential Job Functions:
- Able to carry up to 25 lbs
- Able to run and be active with children
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to maintain energy for the duration of the workday
- Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time under cool or hot conditions
- Possess full range of mobility for athletic gameplay
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, active environment while ensuring the safety and well-being of campers
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must maintain a professional appearance
- Background check and fingerprinting are required upon hire
