Role Description
The Recreation Director will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing recreational activities, events, and programs that promote community engagement and wellness. This full-time, on-site role requires the employee to work in the Borough and coordinate the usage and maintenance of parks, facilities, and equipment. The director will manage budgets, oversee seasonal staff, establish partnerships with local organizations, and assess community needs in developing activities. This position plays a key role in fostering an active, inclusive, and enriching environment for Borough residents.
Qualifications
- Program planning, event coordination, and management experience
- Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities with the ability to oversee staff and volunteers
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and resource planning
- Excellent communication, public relations, and community outreach skills
- Knowledge of recreational programming and facility management
- Ability to evaluate community needs and develop inclusive, diverse programs
- Experience in grant writing and securing funding is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
