Overview
Kitchen Assistant will support chef by handling essential prep, cleaning, and organization tasks, ensuring a smooth kitchen operation by washing/chopping ingredients, cleaning workstations/equipment, managing inventory/stock, and disposing of waste, all while adhering to strict health and safety standards to keep the kitchen hygienic and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients; measuring and mixing ingredients; preparing simple dishes or following established recipes to prepare menu items.
Opening and Closing Kitchen for Daily Operations: Setting up and breaking down workstations; assisting with various tasks; ensuring all areas are tidy and accessible.
Professional Kitchen Equipment Operation: Ability to follow directions to learn standard operating procedures for professional kitchen equipment within the Camp Grier kitchen.
Cleaning & Sanitation: Washing dishes, utensils, and cookware; cleaning and sanitizing workstations, equipment, floors, and surfaces; taking out trash and managing linen.
Stock & Inventory: Receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries; organizing storage areas; restocking supplies; monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
Essential Skills & Attributes:
Understanding of food hygiene and safety. Food Handlers Certification required- Camp Grier can coordinate to facilitate 2 hour class and test if necessary.
Strong stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift 30-45lbs throughout shifts.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6.0 – 20.0 per week
