DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an energetic, creative, and responsible department head of our Drama Program to lead and support theater activities for campers in an all-boys summer camp environment, where we also do some shows in conjunction with our sister camp. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and young teens, encourages creativity and confidence, and can help campers develop performance, collaboration, and communication skills through drama, improvisation, and stage production activities.
The Drama department head will supervise campers within the theater programming, serve as a positive role model, and contribute to a fun, inclusive, and supportive camp culture.
- Plan and lead engaging drama activities, rehearsals, and direct 6 shows over the course of the summer season.
- Direct or assist with camp performances and productions
- Teach basic acting techniques, stage presence, voice projection, and character development
- Encourage participation and help campers build confidence and teamwork skills
- Adapt activities for varying ages, skill levels, and comfort with performance
- Assist with costumes, props, scripts, staging, and backstage organization
