Dog Handler / Camp Counselor (Dog Daycare)

Camp Bow Wow located in Oak Park, IL is looking for Full-Time Dog Handlers for our AM and PM shifts. We are seeking passionate professionals who will care for our campers as if they're your own beloved pups! Candidates should be comfortable interacting with dogs of all sizes and a range of temperaments. While we do not accept aggressive dogs, plenty of our campers are young and still learning manners and proper play. Our counselors must be prepared to be barked at, bumped around, and jumped on occasionally. You will be tasked with managing groups of up to 25 dogs, maintaining a safe and clean space. Counselors are also tasked with keeping our facilities tidy for clients and their pets. This includes cleaning cabins, play yards, public spaces, and the area surrounding our building. All counselors are trained to perform basic grooming and first aid for dogs. Counselors who master basic dog care and managements duties can qualify for more advanced training. Progressing to higher levels and taking on more advanced tasks come with potential for corresponding pay increases. AM Shift 6:30 AM - 1:00 PM

PM Shift 1:00 PM - 7:15 PM

Doubles 6:30/7:00 AM - 7:15 PM on occasion

Full time schedule is 4 weekday shifts and at least one weekend shift. 32 - 40hours

Ideal candidates will have experience working in a kennel, veterinary office or have extensive personal dog experience. Please include a cover letter explaining your dog experience and how your work experience applies to the job requirements.

Requirements

• Professional experience working with dogs in a daycare or boarding facility, as a vet tech, or vet assistant is preferred, or extensive personal dog experience.
• Must be able to work one weekend day per week and be available to work on most holidays.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Capable of very active and physical work including spending most of the day on your feet, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching. Must be able to lift, transport, and handle 50 pounds.
• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Paid time off and other benefits.
• Compensation $15.00 for inexperienced staff. Up to $18.00 for those with relevant experience.
