Dog Daycare Counselor – Morning Shift (Part-Time / Full-Time Opportunity)

Camp Bow Wow Rochester is hiring dependable, energetic, and hardworking Morning Camp Counselors to join our team! Our AM Crew hits the ground running at 6:30 AM, handling morning potty breaks, feedings, medications, cleaning, and supervising our canine Campers. This is a fast-paced, physically active job with very little downtime! We're looking for early birds who show up on time, ready to work, take initiative, and stay productive without constant supervision. If you're reliable, self-motivated, love dogs, and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves (and get a little dirty!), we'd love to meet you!

Morning shifts begin at 6:30 AM, including weekdays, weekends & holidays. Part-time opportunities are available, with full-time hours possible for the right candidate based on availability, performance, and business needs. Previous animal care experience is helpful, but not required. We're happy to train the right person who brings a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

What You'll Do

• Supervise and actively engage with groups of dogs in our play yards.
• Monitor dog behavior, body language, and interactions to maintain safe group play.
• Keep Camp clean by sanitizing play yards, cabins, equipment, and common areas.
• Assist with feeding, medications, and daily dog care as trained.
• Recognize and report signs of illness, injury, stress, or behavioral concerns.
• Follow Camp safety procedures and respond appropriately to concerns.
• Work independently while communicating and collaborating with your team.
• Help create a positive Camp experience for every dog.

Schedule & Availability: Shift Start at 6:30 AM. Weekday, weekend, and holiday availability is required for all candidates. Consistent morning availability is required.

Typical morning schedules may include:

• 6:30 AM – 11:30 AM/12PM
• 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (extended morning shifts, when available)

Part-Time: Approximately 12–30 hours per week.

Full-Time: Approximately 40 hours per week. May be available for candidates with strong availability, reliability, and demonstrated performance. Compensation and growth opportunities are based on experience, training, certifications, reliability, and job performance. This position pay range is $16-$18/hour.

Position Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Applicants under 18 must obtain and maintain any required New York State working papers.
• Reliable transportation to arrive for scheduled 6:30 AM shifts.
• Reliable smartphone with camera, voice, text, and data capabilities for scheduling, training, team communication, and Camper documentation.
• Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness while supervising multiple dogs.

Camp Counselors work in a physically demanding environment with active groups of dogs. Essential job functions include:

• Observing dog body language and recognizing changes in behavior, stress, illness, injury, or escalating interactions.
• Monitoring multiple dogs simultaneously and responding promptly to safety concerns.
• Recognizing and responding to dog vocalizations, alarms, monitors, and staff communications.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Remaining attentive and responsive in loud, active play environments.
