Role Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to lead and execute the full scope of Human Resources for our organization. This is a true “department of one” role, ideal for a self-sufficient professional who thrives on ownership, autonomy, and the opportunity to build something meaningful. As our HR leader, you will work closely with top management while also serving as a trusted resource for all employees, playing a key role in shaping and sustaining our culture of quality, teamwork, and accountability. You will be responsible for the full HR lifecycle, including employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, compliance with Automotive, Federal, and California employment laws, and the development of effective HR policies and programs. You will support a dedicated team of approximately 40 employees, ensure a safe, compliant, and positive workplace while aligning individual growth with company goals. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Maintains organization staff by working with department managers and top management to identify personnel shortages, creating/updating job descriptions, managing job postings/temporary agencies, providing insightful feedback on the candidates, vetting candidates, and arranging interviews, and contributing to final candidate selection.
  • Facilitates the on-boarding and orienting of new hires in conjunction with hiring manager, IT Manager, and Top Management. Updating all related HR platforms.
  • Works with hiring manager to draft and maintain new employee training schedule. Monitors progress over 30-60-90-days and coordinates manager’s review.
  • If needed coordinates and monitors temporary staffing as identified and approved by management. Track hours for temporary to permanent conversions.

Regulatory:

  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures, updating Employee Handbook and posting requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; and management and employee training.
  • Coordinates and documents HR training for all Management staff utilizing on-line resources and/or other sources based on company needs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through workshops, webinars, publications, etc.
  • Manages the leave of absence process.
  • Counsels Managers on effective disciplining, Performance Improvement Plans, and employee terminations
  • Conducts exit interviews and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.

Health and Safety

  • Maintains and communicates Safety Training and Federal and State Required Programs including our COVID-19 Prevention Program, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Workplace Violence Prevention Plan, Indoor Heat and Illness Plan. Provides updates to all employees through team meetings or other group communications.
  • Participates in the Safety Committee and our monthly inspections, and as a champion of our safety policy investigate incidents as needed for recovery and future prevention.
  • Manages all aspects of Worker’s Compensation and injury documentation and case management.

Employee Retention:

  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions as needed.
  • Ensures monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results, both positive and negative.
  • Trains managers to coach, formally review and discipline employees at least on an annual basis.
  • Addresses employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors to amicable result.
  • Assesses and recommends employee benefits programs to management. Manages the open enrollment process.  
  • Maintains cross-training matrix and recordkeeping based on company standard training initiatives and specific department related training with managers. Works with department managers to identify shortages and growth potential for employees.
  • Coordinates company functions, general employee communications and compliance training, employee recognition, quarterly newsletter.
  • Maintains time and attendance records, bi-weekly payroll hours, and paid time off scheduling and tracking.
  • Monitors employee retention within departments and company-wide.

General:

  • As the HR leader, sets an example of workplace professionalism and conflict resolution.
  • Reviews and updates HR Process Flow Charts, Work Instructions, Forms, Training Documents and SharePoint Page as per the CAMI Documentation Standards
  • Maintains and updates Corporate Responsibility, Business Code of Ethics and communicates efforts internally and externally as required.
  • Maintenance of HR Projects List – providing project updates and valuable feedback to top management during monthly meetings.
  • Coordinate Spanish translations as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
  • 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong intrapersonal and recruiting skills, with demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition strategies.
  • Proven ability to learn and understand company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated expertise training managers and employees.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Previous experience working with Paychex and Stratus time or similar payroll/time keeping software a plus.
  • ISO experience a plus
  • Ergonomic and Safety Training experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to lift, and/or carry up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
  • Sedentary work in an office environment for approximately 5-6 hours in an 8 hour workday
  • Occasionally walk across the street between locations
  • Walk thru or next to a warehouse environment as needed.
  • Ability to talk on the phone on an on-need basis.
  • Computer work throughout the workday
  • Indoor/Outdoor warehouse environment
  • Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard.

SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS:

  •  Ability to speak and write Spanish a plus.
