Camino Union School District 3060 Snows Road Camino, CA 95709 FOOD SERVICES WORKER I Definition Under the direction of the Superintendent-Principal and Lead Food Service Worker, perform routine food service activities related to setting up of serving areas, the serving of food to students and staff, clean and maintain kitchen and food serving area, and other food service work as required. Examples of Duties Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in this position. •Prepare food service facilities for the serving of food; wash and prepare eating and serving areas including setting up tables. •Count and set out an appropriate number of trays; set out food and beverages according to established procedures; maintain salad bar and replace condiments as needed. •Portion and serve food to students and staff according to established procedures. •Assist in the preparation of food; prepare sandwiches; grate cheese; mix and chop fruits and vegetables. •Operate dishwasher and wash trays, plates, bowls, utensils, and other serving equipment. •Assist in setting up and stocking food preparation and service lines. •Maintain food storage, work and serving areas in a clean, sanitary and safe condition; wash and clean counters and tables; wash and store pots, trays, kitchen equipment and kitchen floors. •Supervise students to assure they follow school rules. •Assist other Food Service Personnel as assigned. •Perform related duties as assigned. Knowledge of: 1.Standard kitchen equipment, utensils, and measurement. 2.Standard practices related to handling and serving food. 3.Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability To: 1.Perform routine food service activities related to the setting up of serving areas and the serving of food to students and staff. 2.Serve food in accordance with health and sanitation regulations. 3.Maintain food service equipment and areas in a clean and sanitary condition. 4.Meet schedules and time lines. 5.Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 6.Work cooperatively with students, co-workers, and parents. Experience Prior job related experience in food preparation, serving and basic kitchen activities. Education Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in inside environmental conditions. The employee will have exposure to hot foods, equipment, metal objects, sharp knives and slicers. Licences, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required TB test clearance Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance Candidate who is selected for this classification will need to undergo a valid job-related strength test to demonstrate the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects. Candidates will complete five strength tests that measure those muscle groups utilized during lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying job tasks.
