Job Description
The Smokehouse assistant is a key part of a fast-paced kitchen team responsible for supporting food preparation, maintaining efficiency during busy service times, and ensuring high-quality food is delivered quickly and consistently. This role is hands-on, energetic, and ideal for someone who thrives in a team-driven, high-speed environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing meats for smoking, including seasoning, trimming, and marinating
- Monitor smokers and cooking equipment to ensure proper temperature and timing
- Help maintain consistent food quality, flavor, and presentation
- Support daily prep work such as portioning, packaging, and labeling
- Keep smokehouse and kitchen areas clean, organized, and sanitary
- Follow all food safety and handling guidelines
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory rotation
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of smoking equipment
Skills & Qualifications:
- Interest in barbecue, smoking, or food preparation techniques
- Ability to work in a warm, fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Good time management and reliability
- Previous kitchen or food prep experience is helpful but not required
- Work weekends and holidays as needed.
