Job Title: Seasonal Boys Basketball Coach

Reports To: Athletic Director / School Principal
Position Type: Seasonal, Stipend Position ($5,500)
Season: Winter (approximately November–March)

Position Summary:

The Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and inspiring student-athletes in the boys basketball program for Camden's Promise Charter School. This includes overseeing all aspects of the team’s performance—athletic, academic, and personal—while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and school spirit. The position is seasonal and compensated with a stipend of $5,500 for the duration of the season.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, games, and team activities.
• Teach and model fundamental basketball skills, strategy, and competitive techniques.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture that emphasizes hard work, discipline, and academic success.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes at all times.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, athletic department staff, and school administration.
• Maintain compliance with all school, conference, and governing athletic association rules and regulations.
• Oversee equipment inventory, uniforms, and facility use.
• Mentor assistant coaches and collaborate on player development and game preparation.
• Support the academic achievement of student-athletes and uphold school values on and off the court.

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, game strategy, and player development.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Must pass required background checks and meet all school/league coaching certification requirements.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain prior to season start).

Compensation:

• Seasonal stipend: $5,500 (paid according to school district or organizational schedule).
