Camden Family Health is seeking an experienced, energetic, and visionary Director of Nursing (DON) to provide strategic leadership for nursing services across our growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This leadership role is responsible for overseeing nursing operations across multiple outpatient clinics, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and workforce development.
The Director of Nursing will work closely with executive leadership, providers, and department managers to advance clinical excellence, optimize operational performance, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for nursing services across multiple clinical locations.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and evidence-based clinical practices that promote safe, high-quality patient care.
- Ensure compliance with HRSA, OSHA, CDC, CMS, state licensing requirements, infection prevention standards, and all applicable healthcare regulations.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, risk reduction efforts, and clinical performance monitoring.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, onboarding, supervision, coaching, and performance management for nursing personnel.
- Effectively manage resources to support operational efficiency while maintaining exceptional patient care.
- Partner with providers, clinical leaders, and executive leadership to improve workflows, patient access, care coordination, and operational performance.
- Establish and maintain competency programs, orientation, continuing education, and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.
- Mentor and develop future nursing leaders while fostering a culture built on teamwork, accountability, compassion, and excellence.
- Monitor key performance indicators, regulatory metrics, and patient satisfaction data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead organizational readiness for audits, accreditation surveys, and regulatory inspections.
- Stay current with emerging healthcare trends, clinical best practices, regulatory changes, and innovative models of outpatient care.
QualificationsRequired
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of West Virginia (or ability to obtain).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading clinical teams, managing personnel, and driving organizational performance.
- Strong understanding of ambulatory care operations, regulatory compliance, infection prevention, and quality improvement.
- Excellent communication, organizational, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments while inspiring teams to achieve organizational goals.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field.
- Previous leadership experience within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, primary care organization, or multi-site ambulatory practice.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems, population health initiatives, quality reporting, and value-based care.
- Certification in Nursing Leadership or Healthcare Management.
