Job Summary
This position performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks for county buildings, equipment, and facilities. Responsibilities include work involving plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling systems and other general building maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects, identifies, and repairs equipment, machinery, and building systems as needed.
- Troubleshoots and determines appropriate repairs for maintenance issues.
- Performs general building repairs that do not require specialized technicians, such as drywall repair, painting, door and fixture repairs, and other minor construction.
- Conducts routine maintenance on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural systems.
- Assists with facility cleaning and upkeep as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to follow directions from supervisors or senior maintenance staff.
- General knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, repair and maintenance practices.
- Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.
