Overview
In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from surgery or managing acute medical conditions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs, implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes. Your expertise will be essential in fostering a healing environment and promoting optimal health.
What you’ll do
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on clinical findings.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Educate patients and their families about health management, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and institutional policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Provide mentorship and support to nursing staff and students as needed.
Basic qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficient in IV insertion, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS).
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical-surgical setting or acute care environment.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of critical care practices, including airway management and pain management techniques.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
