Patient Service Representative

How you can make an impact: As a Patient Service Representative at our client, you will contribute your great work ethic in providing an exceptional experience to every patient and visitor that comes to the medical center.  You will be responsible for ensuring all applicable registration and financially related data is captured accurately for a growing and mission-driven organization. What You Will Do: 

 

1.   Welcome all patients to the health center

 

2.   Performs billing and bookkeeping functions, including collection of co-payments, and providing receipts, posting, and balancing daily sheets and day end reconciliation to assure accuracy.

                              

3.   Updates insurance information when appropriate.

 

4.   Verifies insurance enrollment, eligibility, benefits and out of pocket responsibility. 

 

5.   Upon patient check out, lab orders will be printed, and referrals will be given.                             
 

6.   Schedules return appointments in compliance with current policy.     

 

7. Obtains Consent for Medical Treatment and Release of Medical Records 

      Information.

               

8.  Accurately completes computer data entry.

 

9.  Works in an organized, efficient manner so as to keep a smooth and orderly flow of patients moving in and out of the medical office.

 

10.  Maintains a file system necessary for proper organization of work.

 

11.  Scans all documents.

 

12.  Obtains necessary patient release forms in accordance with patient confidentiality and
 medical release policies.

 

13.  Reports any patient complaints to the Patient Registration Manager.

       

14.  Makes patient calls as directed by the physicians/providers and Nurse Manager.

 

15.  Records and affixes all incoming correspondence, mail results, medical documents, etc. to appropriate department.

 

16.  Daily cancellation and reschedule of patients, due to emergencies or staffing

       issues as directed by the Nurse Manager/Patient Registration Manager.

 

17.  Confirms appointments as needed.

 

18.  Responsible to answer in-coming telephone calls, take accurate messages and distribute to appropriate party.

 

What you Bring:

  • A passion to help patients
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of continuous experience in a medical outpatient setting required
  • Prior experience in a front desk, medical receptionist, or patient access role required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and scheduling systems preferred
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills required
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • Professional attitude and appearance

  • Ability to use Positive Language
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Creativity and resourcefulness

Schedule:
Up to 20 hours per week, PRN/as needed based on operational needs
Flexibility required, including evenings and occasional Saturdays
Up to 20 hours per week

Salary : $18 - $22
