What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasound Extern position at CAMC Health System?
Extern sonographer will be actively in an ultrasound program and in good academic standing.
Extern sonographer will always be under direct supervision of staff, and images will be approved before patient is dismissed.
Extern Sonographer will perform a variety of specialized technical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with the detection of anatomical abnormalities
Responsibilities
- Utilize accessory equipment such as transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide a portal summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist. Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated.
- Maintain patient records.
- Charge procedures and supplies. Archive and de-archive ultrasound data. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
- Assist physicians and sonographers with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, OBGYN procedures as required.
Upon graduation from US program , the Extern will enter normal Imaging/US career ladder.
