Per Diem On-Call Chaplain -- Pastoral Care -- General Hospital

Assist patients, their loved ones, and staff at CAMC to utilize the spiritual resources which promote health and wholeness, functioning as a per diem on-call member of the CAMC interdisciplinary health care team. The Per Diem On-Call Chaplain will report to the Director of Pastoral Care and works with the departmental team of full-time, part-time, and other on-call Chaplains.

The Per Diem On-Call Chaplain will report to the Director of Pastoral Care and works with the departmental team of full-time, part-time, and other on-call Chaplains.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care to patients/families/staff at CAMC.
• Respond to on-call requests for spiritual care in a timely manner.
• Provide religious and spiritual counseling and guidance.
• Involve other clergy within the community as needed.
• Participate in the meeting of ritual and sacramental needs as appropriate.
• Participate in team meetings and group education.
• Provide an environment for spiritual growth at all levels of CAMC.
Additional Information: Our On-Call Chaplains cover all hospital campuses as needed in collaboration with the Spiritual Care Department and the Director of Spiritual Care.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Education: One Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education, Board of Regents Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Theology preferred.

Experience: Must be endorsed and/or ordained.

1 year in an Acute Care Setting required.
