Outside Plant Construction Operator
Location: Cambridge, ID
Compensation: $20.00 /Hour DOE
Cambridge Telephone Company, Inc. is looking to fill the role of Outside Plant Construction Operator. CTC is an Idaho- based Telecommunications Carrier and ISP. This will be a full-time non-exempt position, and as such you will be eligible for fringe benefits in accordance with the company’s benefit plans.
As an Outside Plant Construction Operator, your initial job duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Operating equipment while installing, improving and maintaining telephone, fiber and copper communication facilities
- Outside Plant Construction; Installation of buried fiber, conduit, and cable, preparation and cleanup of job site , operation of equipment and maintenance of vehicles and equipment assigned to your area of responsibility
- Follow instructions and standard operating procedures for installing fiber optic cable
- Work with Construction Manager on line and groundwork
- Work with buried cable construction crews
- Follow all public safety precautions
- Respond to outside plant emergency calls when called upon
- Work with the Construction Manager to assure quality installation and see that proper maintenance procedures are followed
- Be familiar with and follow company safety policies and procedures
- Promote a quality working environment
- Need to provide and maintain proper work boots and clothing to withstand daily elements
- Maintain the ability to be insured on the companys vehicle policy
- Assist in the marketing efforts of Cambridge Telephone Company, Inc.
- Assure quality customer assistance and that proper procedures are followed
- Other job duties as assigned
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Need to be extremely physical and self-motivated
- Running all equipment (Backhoe, Excavator, Dozer)
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Manual labor (hand digging, snow shoveling, etc.)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Backhoe, Excavator, Dozer operator experience
- You may be required to take an operators test as part of the interview process
- Knowledge of Digline rules/regulations, as well as experience digging around underground utilities
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- Class A CDL
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
You may be required to perform physical demands as required, such as:
- Bending
- Squatting
- Crouching
- Kneeling
- Reaching
- Digging
- Pulling
- Shoveling
- Occasional crawling or lying on ground
- Lifting up to 75 lbs.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- This position requires the ability to work a variable schedule
- This position requires excellent communication skills
- This position will require occasional travel
- This position will require the passing of a background check and a pre- employment drug screening test, as well as random drug and alcohol testing while employed
