Cambridge Office for Tourism

The Cambridge Office for Tourism is responsible for all destination marketing, public relations, and visitor services for Cambridge, Massachusetts. The office has served as the central hub for tourism marketing and visitor information for the City of Cambridge for more than 30 years. The Cambridge Office for Tourism is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization that enriches the City of Cambridge by promoting its many special attractions and cultural amenities to residents, students, leisure travelers, and business/meeting planners both nationally and internationally in order to create a stable and consistent positive economic impact. The office is also responsible for the operation of our Visitor Information Center located in the heart of Harvard Square.


Job Summary

The Marketing & Office Coordinator plays a key supporting role in advancing the mission of the Cambridge Office for Tourism by providing marketing executional support and daily office coordination. This position reports directly to the Marketing Manager, with oversight from the Executive Director. 


The coordinator assists with the implementation of marketing initiatives, ensures the smooth operation of the office, and supports the Visitor Information Center. The ideal candidate is highly organized, creative, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.


The Cambridge Office for Tourism currently offers a hybrid work model, with full-time employees working a minimum of three days per week in the office in the heart of Harvard Square. Due to the nature of this position which plays an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations of both the office and the Visitor Information Center, the position is largely in person. The Marketing & Office Coordinator is also responsible for being the in-office coverage when both the Executive Director and Marketing Manager are not physically in the office. The hybrid work model is subject to change at any time based on organizational and scheduling needs.


As part of a small, collaborative team, this position requires flexibility and a willingness to assist across functions — taking an all-hands-on-deck approach to projects, events, and day-to-day operations that support the mission of promoting Cambridge as a premier destination.


Key Responsibilities


Marketing Support

  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns that promote Cambridge’s attractions, events, and visitor experiences.
  • Draft, schedule and monitor social media content across platforms in alignment with brand standards and the social media calendar.
  • Support email marketing, website updates, and blog content management.
  • Coordinate photography, video, and creative asset organization.
  • Compile marketing metrics and engagement reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Assist in preparing materials for press outreach, advertising, and community partnerships.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Visitor Information Center inside the Cambridge KiOSK, including restocking brochures and promotional materials, covering staff breaks or shifts as needed, and ensuring that the Visitor Information Center remains welcoming and well-presented for visitors. This will also include filling in for weekday and weekend shifts as needed when our Visitor Information Center volunteers may be unavailable.


Office Coordination

  • Maintain the daily operations of the Cambridge Office for Tourism, including office supplies, filing systems, correspondence, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate internal meetings, manage shared calendars, and support communications and meetings with external partners.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical files, ensuring easy access to marketing and administrative materials.
  • Support the Executive Director and Marketing Manager with administrative logistics, meeting preparation, and more.
  • Serve as a professional first point of contact for inquiries via phone, email, or in-person at the office.
  • Provide light financial and administrative support such as paying invoices, organizing expense documentation, maintenance and organization of vendor records, and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in marketing, office coordination, or visitor services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn), email marketing tools, and basic website content management systems. Wordpress knowledge is a plus.
  • Proven track record of excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Friendly, professional, and customer-service oriented demeanor.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and familiarity with design tools (Canva, Constant Contact etc.) preferred. Beginning Quickbooks  knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of or enthusiasm for Cambridge’s attractions, culture, and visitor experience is a plus.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion review of 2-3 references and background check.

Salary Range: $57,500 - $62,500 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
