77040, Advanced Practice Practitioner - Orthopedics/Walk-in

Essential Functions: 

• Sees patients in the clinic for selected laboratory testing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries.  Refers to physician as needed.  Writes prescriptions and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. 
• Demonstrates the ability to prescribe medications and non-pharmacological therapies based on the patient’s diagnoses, health history and age.
• Examines Patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures.
• Formulates diagnoses and treats illnesses within scope of practice.
• Formulates and implements patient treatment plans within scope of practice.
• Completes annual education requirements.
• The physician and the Advanced Practice Practitioner are expected to understand and comply with all current laws, rules and regulations which govern the practice of Physician’s Assistants in the State of Nebraska.
• Notifies physician on call, or supervising physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
• Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
• Collaborates with physician and other members of the health team to plan optimal care for the patient.
• Effectively manages in-patients as assigned.
• Completes all records in a timely manner as defined by hospital bylaws, policies and procedures.
• Actively participates in performance improvement activities.
• Attends meeting as assigned and as defined by hospital bylaws, policies and procedures.
