CHS Uniform Expectations pdf
At Cambridge High School, our uniform is more than just clothing — it’s a visual expression of who we are. We’re proud to launch a refreshed school uniform that reflects the stories, values, and identity of our kura. This new design brings together tradition and innovation, weaving in the rich narratives of our house mascots, the symbolism of learning, and the unique imagery that defines CHS. It’s a uniform our students can wear with pride, knowing it connects them to their peers, their school, and the generations that came before.
The redesign was shaped by feedback from our students, whaanau, and wider community. It began with our sports and arts uniforms, which debuted earlier this year, and now extends to our everyday schoolwear. The result is a unified, functional, and modern look that honours our heritage while meeting the practical needs of our learners. From the koru and quill to the Poutama patterns and house stories gifted by Ngaati Korokii Kahukura, every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to represent the journey of growth, belonging, and excellence at CHS.
We have received generous financial support from our suppliers to help the Cambridge community. If you wish to receive this support in transitioning between uniforms, please contact us via the form below.

New uniform FAQ
What is changing?
The Following Is a Summary Of The Change:
2026 - Years 9, 12 and 13
2027 - Years 9, 10, 12 and 13 (Year 11 will be optional)
2028 - Full school in new uniform
It looks like the trousers are largely the same, do I need to buy new ones?
That is correct, there is no need to change the trousers/shorts in 2026 as we wanted to keep the lower half similar. This gives us the ability to phase this part of the uniform in gently. The cut and look is better though and so we are expecting that students will choose to wear the new kit.
Can I wear this years Year 13 skirt?
Yes, you can wear this year's Year 13 skirt in 2026 as it looks very similar to the current one.
Can we see it?
The uniform looks a lot better in person than in a 2D image from the pdf. The finalised samples are on mannequins in the reception area - come in and have a look.
Is there still a PE uniform?
Students are required to wear the CHS PE shirt, and this doubles as a house tee for school events. Students are also required to wear black shorts with no logos with their CHS PE shirts. The Uniform Shoppe does have shorts available, and they are a very reasonable price. Students must change out of their school uniform for their PE lessons.
There are new socks in the range, is this for everyone?
Students have been pretty direct in their feedback about the current socks. The new version is a cotton sports sock and feedback from students is that it is much more comfortable. These new socks are compulsory for females and males.
I am in Year 10 and 11 in 2026, can I buy new items knowing what is coming?
Yes. Some items, like the jacket, are a huge improvement on what exists already and we are happy for you to purchase these.
How do we get financial support?
We have received great support from SAS to help us with the transition. If you need financial assistance please just reach out using the form on this page and we will get in touch with options.
Why do current Year 12 students need to buy a new uniform for Year 13?
Under the old system, Year 12s would have needed a new uniform for Year 13 anyway. With the new approach, students will now wear the senior uniform for two years instead of just one. This change is designed to make things smoother for future students.
I have already bought new uniform for next year, what do I do?
If you have already purchased a Year 9 or Year 13 uniform you can get a full refund from the Uniform Shoppe. Just take the 'as new' items into the shop with the receipt and they will look after you.
