REGISTERED NURSE
Responsibilities:
· Overseeing RC medication administration, ensuring compliance with Department of Mental Health, The Joint Commission standards of care and MAP.
· Coordinating with providers regarding medication changes and submitting prescription refill requests
· Conducting admission medical assessments on all new residential patients
· Interpreting lab results and coordinating with medical team to address abnormal values, including electrolyte imbalances
· Ordering and stocking residential over-the-counter medication and medical supplies.
· Responding to patient’s minor medical complications for all levels of care
· Providing patient education regarding medications and various health topics – both individually and in group sessions
· Overseeing and training of Residential Counselors in proper technique of obtaining vital signs, *medication supervision and management, infection control, minor wound care, and emergency medical protocols
· Developing and evaluating medical protocols, coordinating with residential program coordinator to review systems for performance improvement
· Facilitating trips to primary care providers, specialists, or emergency room for medical follow-up of various conditions and complications; assessing patient need for higher or lower level of care
· Participating in discharge planning, assessing patient understanding of medication regimen
· Working within clinical team to coordinate patient care, attending bi-weekly medical and psychiatric rounds and monthly Performance Improvement (PI) meetings
· Performing other duties as needed within scope of practice
Qualifications:
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing: BSN preferred
· Valid current Massachusetts RN license in good standing
· BLS certification
· MAP certification as a Trainer preferred
· 2 years experience in psychiatric setting preferred
· Strong interpersonal communication skills
· Supervisory experience preferred
· Knowledgeable in interpreting lab
