Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and documentation procedures
- Provide compassionate Alzheimer's and dementia care, implementing memory care strategies to enhance quality of life
- Help with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and maintaining a clean dining environment
- Engage residents through social activities and meaningful interactions to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Maintain accurate records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and document any changes in condition or behavior
- Operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively to prevent injury
- Support residents in assisted living or long-term care environments, including personal care homes and retirement communities
- Follow infection control procedures by cleaning and sanitizing resident areas regularly
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive resident support and safety
Requirements
- Prior experience in senior care, nursing homes, assisted living, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s/dementia care, memory care techniques, and behavior management strategies
- Ability to perform first aid and respond effectively in emergency situations
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is advantageous
- Strong understanding of vital signs monitoring and medication administration protocols
- Valid driver’s license for driving responsibilities related to resident outings or appointments
- Proven caregiving skills with a compassionate attitude and excellent communication abilities
- Ability to lift or transfer residents using Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids safely
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation purposes is a plus
- Flexibility to work full-time hours in various shifts; previous experience in retirement homes or group homes is beneficial
