Youth Services Program Coordinator
[Full-time, 30 hours per week]
Organizational Overview:
The Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association of Greater Lowell, Inc. (CMAA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Cambodian Americans, people of color, and underserved communities in Greater Lowell. CMAA empowers youth and families through culturally responsive programs in education, health, civic engagement, and social services.
Position Summary:
The Youth Services Program Coordinator leads the planning, coordination, and implementation of CMAA’s youth programs, which focus on academic enrichment, leadership development, college and career readiness, and cultural identity. The coordinator works directly with youth, families, and community partners to ensure a supportive and engaging environment. This role involves coordinating and supporting part-time Khmer language and traditional music teachers, engaging with Khmer high school students, and fostering strong relationships with Lowell Public Schools to ensure early connection and continuity in youth development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate, and implement after-school, summer, and year-round programs and events for Khmer youth ages 7–17.
- Facilitate sessions on leadership, cultural identity, college/career readiness, and life skills.
- Lead targeted outreach to engage Khmer middle and high school students while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and culturally affirming environment.
- Build meaningful relationships with youth, offering mentoring, guidance, and referrals to support academic, personal, and cultural development, including key transitions and civic engagement opportunities.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local schools and community stakeholders, collaborating with educators and administrators to enhance student success.
- Coordinate and support part-time Khmer language and traditional music teachers, cultural enrichment activities, student showcases, and community performances.
- Coordinate guest speakers, field trips, and volunteer activities.
- Maintain appropriate program data tracking, reporting, and evaluation, and assist with fundraising and storytelling to highlight program impact.
- Maintains clear communication with families regarding schedules and activities.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth, especially from immigrant or BIPOC communities.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and organizational skills
- Deep commitment to youth empowerment.
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Khmer and English strongly preferred
- Experience working with middle and high school students.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and positive youth development practices.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible schedule required; evening and weekend availability expected.
- Must pass CORI/SORI background checks.
- Ability to lift to 25 pounds for program events and materials.
Compensation: Hourly wages: $23 - $25. Full-time (30 hours/week, 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM), some weekends, and earlier times to participate in agency-wide meetings.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401K, LTD & STD insurance, paid vacations, summer hours, and paid holidays. We are closed from Christmas Day to New Year's Day.
