Position: Ophthalmic Technician
Specialty: Optometry
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Shift: 5x8-Hour Day Shift
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Duration: 13 Weeks with possible extension
Pay: Up to $1800/Week
Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician specializing in Optometry to support ophthalmologists and optometrists in a busy clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have experience performing diagnostic eye testing, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with patient flow while delivering excellent patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to and from examination rooms and assist with patient flow
- Obtain patient histories including eye symptoms, medications, and allergies
- Perform visual acuity testing and measure intraocular pressure using tonopen and applanation methods
- Administer eye drops in preparation for examinations and procedures
- Conduct diagnostic testing including visual fields, OCT, fundus photography, autorefraction, A/B scans, topography, and lensometry
- Perform refractions and assist providers during patient evaluations
- Maintain accurate patient records and coordinate clinical documentation
- Monitor and restock exam rooms and supply areas as needed
- Clean, maintain, and coordinate repairs for ophthalmic equipment
- Participate in ongoing training, education, and skill development activities
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year of Ophthalmic Technician experience required
- Certification as COA, COT, or COMT through JCAHPO required
- Vocational or technical training in an accredited ophthalmic program preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmic testing procedures and equipment
- Experience with electronic medical records and patient documentation preferred
Pay: $38.00 - $45.00 per hour
