    Salary: $20.95/hour

    Purpose:
    To work as part of a team and to participate in the smooth and efficient operations of the school cafeteria to serve students and the school community nutritious meals, maintain a friendly atmosphere, and maintain all health, safety, and nutrition standards. To remain active on the substitute list you must sub at least one (1) time per school year and complete online safety trainings prior to hire and annually for continued employment.

    Essential Functions:

    1. Prepare meals for the assigned school, satellite schools and/or base kitchen.
    2. Serve meals and replenish food offerings during meal services.
    3. Ensure the daily set up and cleanup of kitchen and service areas.
    4. Work with the Nutrition services director to plan and prepare for menus for the school.
    5. Ensure proper food preparation and service to include proper portion sizes.
    6. Ensure for and follow all health and safety standards in the kitchen and service areas.
    7. Complete necessary inventory reports, safety reports and daily production records as directed by the Nutrition Services Director.
    8. Provide for the storage and / or disposal of all food not served.
    9. Cashier during meal service when assigned.
    10. When assigned cashier duties, count, record, and deposit all money received.
    11. Receive and route free and reduced meal applications.
    12. Track and order foods for daily service.
    13. Monitor and record all meals served daily. Adjust forecast as necessary to ensure correct amount of food prepared.
    14. Ensure that kitchen equipment is clean and in good working order.
    15. Assist with the checking in of food shipments.
    16. Clean kitchens after all meal services to include dishes, floors, and laundry as needed.
    17. Performs other related duties as needed to ensure the effective operations of the kitchen and school community at large.

    Professional Qualifications:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
    2. Previous successful food service experience, preferably in a school or public environment.
    3. Must have or acquire a food services health card and maintain the card for the duration of employment. Must acquire and have, or acquire within 45 days, ServSafe® Certification maintaining both for the duration of employment.
    4. Basic computer skills and experience to include MS Office products as well as data entry.
    5. Must support the value of an education.
    6. Must maintain all required vaccinations, which may include Hepatitis B, MMR, and depending upon position may need to possess and maintain a current CPR certification in accordance with district policies, Washington Administrative Codes (WACs), Revised Code of Washington (RCWs), and/or Health Department regulations, including but not limited to RCW 43.216.

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

    1. Noisy, crowded environment
    2. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
    3. Must be able to safely bend, lift, push, and pull
    4. Must be able to safely operate kitchen equipment to include ovens, ranges, knives, and other potentially dangerous objects

    Work Environment:
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

    Benefits Statement:
    School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Substitutes can become benefit eligible after 2 consecutive years of working 630 hours or more, and be anticipated to work 630 hours going forward. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.
