TITLE:                           MEDIA SPECIALIST

SUPERVISES:                         Library Clerk

JOB GOAL:                              To provide students with an enriched library environment in which intellectual growth can occur, and to assist teachers with teaching and educational projects.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Makes library facility and resources available to students and teacher on an “as need” basis.
2. Maintains an effective program providing appropriate, accurate and current resources in all formats to meet the needs of the school community.
3. Catalogs and inventories all resources and equipment, maintains a variety of records, documents and files as required by school or district policies, state or federal law or as assigned by the Principal.
4. Plans and budgets to effectively utilize available funds.
5. Informs administration of current professional and technological resource needs in support of the curriculum.
6. Uses technology to support instruction; access and manipulate data; enhance professional growth and productivity; communicate and collaborate with colleagues, parents and the community; and conduct research/solve problems.
7. Provides an inviting, accessible and stimulating place for individual and group use; shares resources across the school community.
8. Participates in school-related activities, programs or meetings as assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent.
9. Adheres to school, district, state and federal policies, regulations and laws.
10. Participates in required training relative to job assignment, supervisor approved professional growth plan, school/district initiatives, or as directed by the Principal.
11. Supervises students to ensure student safety.
12. Provides professional leadership within the school, community, and education profession to improve student learning as well as support district and state initiatives.
13. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or the Superintendent.

TERM OF SERVICE:              Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION:                         Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
