CURRICULUM RESOURCE TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Kentucky Teaching Certificate
- 2. Hold a Certificate for Consultant or Supervisor of Instruction
- Minimum of Master’s Degree
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience
- Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board
may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL: The Curriculum Resource Teacher is to work to build Professional Learning Communities characterized by purposeful adult interactions that result in improving school-wide teaching and learning, higher achievement for all students and attainment of school-wide goals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in high quality professional development activities in the core content areas, best practices in instruction, diversity, differentiated instruction, assessment practices, technology, and to support and build a learning culture.
- Acts as an on-site trainer of job embedded professional development to support the implementation of School and District Visions, and on-going improvement in the areas of curriculum, assessment, instruction, and leadership.
- Builds collegial relationships within the school community resulting in a reduction of teacher isolation.
- Helps and supports teachers.
- Meets regularly with small groups of teachers to describe research proven teaching practices.
- Identifies teachers willing to participate in implementing a particular classroom practice or technique, and meet with those interested teachers one-on-one to explain the intervention, how it might best be implemented in the teacher’s classroom, and ways in which the success of the intervention will be assessed.
- Works collaboratively with the teacher to design the intervention around the teacher’s instructional content. This may include unit and lesson plan development, creation of authentic assessments, and preparation of materials to be used during instruction.
- Models instructional strategies in the teacher’s classroom so that the teacher can see how it works.
- Works collaboratively with the teacher to analyze the impact of the instructional strategy on student achievement. This includes an analysis of student assessment data which leads to modifications in the intervention and next steps.
- Conducts weekly brief classroom walk-throughs to gather information on instruction. This information will not be used for evaluative purposes and data will only be collected on teachers collectively as a whole.
- Gathers research-based information and materials to share with teachers who need additional resources.
- Shares successful strategies with teachers and promote this type of sharing between teachers.
- Serves as a mentor to inexperienced or beginning teachers as requested by Principal.
- Collaborates with colleagues from across the state to improve curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Collaborates with Director of Instruction and school district curriculum resource teachers on the development of curriculum.
- Creates programs or new courses as outlined by the school and district Comprehensive Plans.
- Serves as a member of the School Improvement Plan.
- Assists the Principal in insuring the school and district’s curriculum is being effectively delivered in the classroom, in compliance with Kentucky’s Learners Goals, Program of Studies, Core Content for Assessment and other state or federal guidelines.
- Facilitates the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.
- Acts with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
- Prepares a variety of reports/documents; makes proposals; maintains a variety of records as required by policy, law or the Superintendent.
- Assists the building Assessment Coordinator with assessment organization.
- Analyzes and scores district benchmark assessment.
- Assists in analyzing school-level assessment results.
- Leads efforts to link assessment with curriculum and constantly evaluates the effectiveness of curriculum/instruction.
- Reports to SBDM Council about curricular, instructional, and/or assessment issues.
- Adheres to policies of the Montgomery County Board of Education, state, and federal regulations and laws.
- Performs other such task and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Instruction, the Principal, or the Superintendent/Designee.
TERM OF SERVICE: Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
