Position Summary

The Shop Technician plays a hands-on role in the assembly, wiring, integration, and testing of modular electrical buildings such as eHouses and Switchracks. This position is responsible for ensuring that all systems are built to specification, comply with industry standards, and are delivered on time. The role involves interpreting electrical drawings, performing mechanical and electrical installations, and working closely with Engineers, Drafters, and the Manufacturing Lead to deliver high-quality, code-compliant systems.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & Mechanical Assembly

- Assemble and mount electrical enclosures, panels, equipment, cable trays, raceways, and conduit systems.

- Perform cable pulling, routing, dressing, and terminations for both control and power systems.

- Execute installation of MV and LV components including transformers, switchgear, PLC panels, and drives.

Drawing Interpretation & Execution

- Read and interpret electrical schematics, layout drawings, cable schedules, and conduit routing plans.

- Ensure all work aligns with the most current Issue for Construction (IFC) drawings.

- Identify drawing discrepancies and report issues to the Manufacturing Lead or Engineering team.

Testing & Quality Control

- Conduct point-to-point wiring checks and insulation resistance testing.

- Support functional testing under supervision of QA or engineering teams.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S and safety guidelines.

Collaboration & Support

- Work closely with the Manufacturing Lead and Project Engineers to prioritize daily tasks and report progress. - Support material staging, receiving, and verification of parts based on BOMs.

- Assist with final walkthroughs, punch list completion, and readiness for FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).

Required Qualifications

- High school diploma or technical certification in electrical technology or related field.

- 2 years of experience in electrical assembly, preferably in modular building or industrial systems.

- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments.

- Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.

- Strong attention to detail, safety consciousness, and teamwork orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience assembling or wiring eHouses, Switchracks, MCCs, or prefabricated control systems.

- Knowledge of NEC, UL-508A, and industrial safety practices.

- Forklift or crane certification (optional but beneficial).

- Familiarity with industrial brands such as Eaton, ABB, Schneider, and Rockwell Automation.

Work Conditions

- Full-time position in a manufacturing/shop environment.

- May require occasional overtime or weekend work based on project timelines.

- Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods, climbing ladders, and using hand tools.

Administrative Task

- Track and register project hours each week using Deltek and/or D-Tools as part of the project timesheet process.

- Support material staging, receiving, and verification of parts based on BOMs.

- Assist with final walkthroughs, punch list completion, and readiness for FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).

- Retrieve material pick lists from D-Tools and coordinate with the warehouse for required materials.
